This is a great time to reflect on the successes and challenges of the past year! If you and your child keep a journal - go through it and discuss some of the entries. What were some of your best days? Were there days that were challenging? Did you learn anything from those days?
If you do not keep a journal, now is a good time to start!
A journal is a place to record and reflect on daily living. It is unstructured and allows children (and adults) a place to write freely and "play" with words.
Simply purchase a notebook - I like to use an inexpensive notebook without lines if I can find one - that way I can add drawings or sketches. Your child can decorate the outside of the notebook to reflect their own personality.
Take some time each day to reflect on your day and write a few words - next year when we ring in 2013 you will have a year of your life in review!
