SS: There will be a quiz on Chapter 1, Section 3 - Resources and Land Use on Tuesday, January 24.
ELA: I am recommending that your child spend 15 minutes two or three times a week on MY SKILLS TUTOR (an on-line program) to practice their reading and grammar skills. I will keep track on how often they are practicing.
This month we are concentrating on the following skill areas both in social studies and ELA:
- story elements (setting, characters, conflict, resolution, theme)
- understanding text structure (description, problem and solution, time/order, comparison/contrast, cause/effect, directions
- sequencing (order)
- making predictions
- comparing and contrasting (similarities/differences)
Please find opportunities to practice these skills with your child when possible. Thank you.
