Our first graders have created a wonderful VoiceThread using PowerPoint. Please listen as they share what they will do to protect the Earth and its creatures and as they share a little about the creative choices they made in creating their PowerPoint. Feel free to leave comments and questions as the VoiceThread becomes an online dialog between the creators (our students) and the Web audience.

Class KCL Sends Their Wishes to Japan
Following the devastating earthquake and tsunami in Japan, Miss Levin's Kindergarten class created beautiful illustrations to capture their wishes for the children of Japan. They then recorded their voices, thoughts and a wonderful song of peace. Please take a look at their VoiceThread, which is meant to bring hope and love to all those affected by this disaster.

BUGSCOPE!!
On Tuesday, May 10th our first graders had a chance to access and control the Scanning Electron Microscope at the University of Illinois Beckman Institute's Imaging Technology Group. They looked at a meal worm pupae to see if they can discover evidence of the growing and developing adult, plus had a chance to look at many other insects under high powered magnification.
Please check out the archives after our session to see what our students and the entomologists discussed!

Our Community VoiceThreads are DONE!!
Our 2nd graders used Patricia Polacco's book The Keeping Quilt as inspiration for this wonderful project. We learned that quilts tell a story. Each of us created a quilt square using PowerPoint, which tells about ourselves. We chose fonts, colors, backgrounds and clipart, which describes us as people and tells about who we are. When all these squares come together, it tells the story of our classroom and school communities. Please click on the links below to learn about the wonderful individuals that make up the communities within Daniel Warren. Feel free to leave comments or questions on our VoiceThread so we can keep the online conversation going!
