Eighth grade Social Studies is the study of U.S. History. Our class will be taught thematically, with emphasis on reading, research, organization, presentation, time management,and study skills.Students will participate in content specific as well as interdisciplinary units throughout the year.In addition to our text(The American Nation)students will use a variety of primary and secondary sources, trade books and computer resources. Our first major unit is US Government and Law.

Through research,interviews,and analysis students will develop an understanding of and an appreciation for the Constitution and government systems of the United States.

Employing a variety of modalities students will demonstrate connections to and an understanding of the rights and responsibilities of US Citizenship.
