Things to Know....
Science - Our next unit of study is Chemistry. Please look out for the new book, Atoms and Elements
Reading- The next book topic for February is free choice. The students can chose a book and write about it in their journal. Please make sure that it is signed by a parent.
English- We have started our spelling piece of the Language Arts Curriculum. At the beginning of each week, the students will be given a spelling pre-test. Whatever words that they do not get correct, they must write 5 times in their English notebooks. Those will be their words for the week. At the end of the week, they will have a spelling test. This test will be sent home Mondays and must be signed.
In addition, we have started to implement more of the writing piece for night time homework. Please look for the weekly packet that correlates with the Language Arts story that we are reading in class.
Math- CHAPTER 4 TEST...FRIDAY, February 3rd.
Social Studies- We have started a new textbook-The United States and Canada.
TEST....Chapter 2...sections 1,2,3...Wednesday, February 8th.
We are also focusing on the 5 W's (Who, What, When, Where, Why) in an article. The students are to read the feature article and write the 5 W's on the sheet provided. At the bottom of the sheet, they are to write a well formulated introduction paragraph consisting of two sentences.
This will be due the Thursday of each week!
